So call me crazy but up until last night for the past two years I used to think I had this unspoken bond with other bikers, from head knods in the winter or that night time bell ring as I pass by. I started dating this girl, and my passion for bikes spread to her. So yesterday afternoon after much consideration, she became "fixed." She was glowing with excitement. We went to goldies on Lincoln down the street from where I live to celebrate. I'm watching the hockey game and she's like, "oh look some fellow bikers with neon colored rims are checking out my bike." Well come to find out, they were stealing my girlfriends 4 hour old new rear rim. So to the skinny guy with neon deep v's, pray to God I don't see you, cause I will not only fuck with your bike but with your face as well. Just giving you a heads up, be on the look out with this bastard and if you come across him, introduce him to the Chicago pavement for me. So much for the bond among bikers.

What color where the wheels on the dudes bike?

I go to see what is up anytime I see somebody checking out my bike; people are assholes.
yeah what color were the rims - i love me some street violence - my ulock is lonely these days....fuck lookers
Yellow and green but maybe orange, total hipster assbag. It happened around 9pm on the corner opposite of goldies, Lincoln and Bernice.
You sure it was a hipster and not about 3 kids?

I saw them at Lincoln Lanes last night, somebody came up and said peeps were messing with bikes and when we went down to take a look there were 3 kids on bikes, one rolling green and orange deep V's, milling around working hard to look innocent. I noticed they had three rear track wheels as we chased them off.

I thought about taking them but it did not seem worth the fight; I regret that decision now...
Oh my god, I'm so going to start biking around that area in hope of coming across them, and yes, it was three kids. This may be a long shot but do you remember what they looked like in detail and there bikes, I wonder if I went by Lincoln lanes if they have any video footage of them, I demand justice.

Honestly I was pretty drunk but the one bike was on the very recognizable wheels and was white with either bull horns or risers; very hipster. The other two where riding junkers. I wonder if the nice bike was stolen as well.

Hmmm, I was picking someone up yesterday afternoon/early evening near Leland and Western and a hipster guy on a bike with neon green rims was rolling around with another guy on a dark red schwinn fixed conversion - both young kids, one white the other mexican with long hair. They were circling around the alleys and sidestreets and at one point while I was waiting sitting in my car I thought they were going to start messing with me. Something about their riding style (slow, nowhere to go, almost looking for something) made me notice them the first time they rode by, and eventually on one pass one took the street next to me and the other was up on the sidewalk...I almost expected to get jumped as they slooooowly crept by along my doors, the one in the street keeping an eye on me. They didn't, but immediately circled back and went down the alley. Who knows, maybe the same kids, maybe not, I didn't see them do anything wrong but might as well add my anecdote to this thread.
Hey now. I check out locked up rides around work all the time when I'm out getting lunch, but I would never steal any part of anyone's bike.

Fuck thieves, but lookers/admirers are fine.

If there weren't so many rides this weekend I'd say we have some fun but it's gonna be raining too and i doubt the dedication of the thieving biker. Ass cans must be taught lessons.
Ass cans will be taught a lesson. I have a month left before I peace out to California but if that means riding around western and Leland where they hang out so be it, I will keep you all posted, and will include pictures of the damage to be done.

Well don't go recording anything. That's never a good idea ;-)
