Best Route to Renegade Craft Fair?

I'm planning to lead a group down to the Renegade Craft Fair from Evanston.  I've used the Channel Trail to Lawrence to California to Milwaukee to Damen before and it worked great.  But I know it is construction season and I'm wondering if any of you city folks have intel on road work along this route -- or any better ideas.  Appreciate any help you can send my way.

there's some construction at MKE/North. It's not crazy but it gets a little tight. But, that area is always tight on the weekends. I'd suggest taking Cali down to Division. Renegade is on Division, right?

One other problem is the construction that is closing the California Blue Line station which will probably make a mess of traffic around California and Milwaukee.  What about Lawrence to Lincoln to Damen or go back west to Kedzie and take Kedzie to Division?

I personally like Sacramento to get between Roscoe and Humboldt Park in that area. It's nicer to get under the Kennedy than either California or Kedzie in my opinion. If you're heading south on California you make a right (west) on Roscoe. Elston is the first light where you make a left and then immediate right onto southbound Sacramento. You can then take that to Armitage to Wood to Cortland to Paulina. Technically you can take Armitage to Paulina but the highway entrance is right there and probably not ideal for a group.

Rich's suggestion is good except that I would take Wood between Cortland and Milwaukee.  Across Milwaukee it becomes Wolcott and you can continue on that to Division.  Paulina is a "t" (well, a lop-sided "t") at Milwaukee and you then make a left on Milwaukee to get to the continuation of Paulina.  There is a stop light at Wood and also one at Paulina.  If you decide to take Paulina it is not a terrible turn.

Sacramento through Logan Square can get pretty congested on weekends, (depends on how early you're riding), but it is slow, and the drivers are usually pretty cool about sharing the road.

Just saw that Wood and Wolcott are closed at the Bloomingdale Trail (the 606).  They are maintaining a sidewalk for pedestrians.  When Paulina was closed I walked my bike through on the sidewalk so that I did not have to ride to another street.  Paulina is open at the Bloomingdale Trail.

Thank you so much everyone!  This has been very helpful.  Sounds like avoiding California/Milwaukee would be a very good idea.  Now I have some options.
