Good morning, i will be in Chicago during January and am looking for a recommendation on the best range of cold weather cycling clothes in Chicago.

Any recommendation on a shop would be highly appreciated.

Kind regards, David

Depending on how you define "local" and "in Chicago", this might fit the bill:

I've seen their stuff @Turin in Evanston. Looks absolutely fantastic

I think he's looking for a recommendation for someplace he can go and buy everything he needs.

Sorry if my wording wasn't clear.

I figured that much. I just recently ran into their products and think their stuff is worth mentioning.

Back to your original question: Cycle Smithy on Clark has a good winter collection, including Swrve winter shell pants. May be a good starting point.

Cool.  Very "Euro" sensibility to their wares :-)

Pretty much any good shop should have a decent selection of stuff out right now.  The bigger the shop the bigger the selection usually.  Rapid has a pretty full size run of Marmot lobster gloves and other accesories right now.

I was going to recommend REI or Performance or something, but then I realized how cheap you can get stuff on Sierra Trading Post.  Huge selection of cycling clothes like baselayers and pants/jackets.  If you sign up for their dealflyer email's and wait for the right deals, (30% off almost everything and 2.50 shipping, 45% select items, etc) you can just get your gear sent to wherever you're staying.  Their shipping usually takes 3 business days.

Good to know.  I have a pair of Swrve Jeans that I wear more often than I want to admit.  They are great.  Very functional and look good too.  Someone just this week asked me if they were Hugo Boss.

Not really a 'local' option though now is it...

If wool is preferred, he should check out Uncle Dans on Southport. They have a great selection of Smart Wool, Icebreaker, and Ibex.

Yes...any decent sized shop has stuff. I've gotten some winter gear from Turin, and Johnny Sprockets (Bryn Mawr)..Though JS is primarily Specialized and PI, if that's your thing.

Hard to get more local than delivery to your door.

Just sayin'
