Strike a Bike Pose! Thursday at Tinley Park and Friday at Lake Forest

LIB is looking for some more volunteers for photo shoots this week (see post from last week for project details.)

Tinley Park, Thursday, 10:30 am at Oak Street Metra. I'll be taking the 9:30 train from LaSalle Street.

Lake Forest, Friday, 10am at UP downtown station. I'll be taking the 8:43 train from Clybourn.

These are your last chances to strike a pose with your bike this fall for the guides. . . and prevent me from being the "Where's Waldo?" of the project. I have been a back up model for each shoot so far. Last week I put on my reading glasses to help with my disguise and nearly missed a step when boarding the train with my bike :)

We are excited to announce that the League of Illinois Bicyclists will be partnering with at least 15 communities in northeastern Illinois to produce “Bike to Metra Guides,” from now until summer 2014.

The maps will include photos of cyclists at the Metra Stations and other key community locations. LIB seeks volunteers for photo shoots that will likely take about 90 minutes during a weekday morning or midday. As dates are established for each community, we will reach out to area members, but if you know you are interested in general, please let us know.

We are hoping to feature the various uses of cycling, such as:

• Professionally or casually dressed cyclists commuting to Metra.
• Shopping by bike with panniers and/or a basket.
• Families biking to school or for weekend fun (for example, using Metra to get to other communities, trails, etc.)
• It would also be wonderful to show gender, age and racial diversity.

Please bring a bike and helmet, but leave the lycra at home as we wish to highlight the everyday uses of cycling. (Not that lycra can't be part of everyday commuting--we just want to show that you don't need special clothes to ride.)
