A friend passes along this information:

"On Saturday Sep 19th, I was biking in Barrington Hills with a group of people. One of the guys in our group was bitten when a vicious brown dog, probably a Chow, attacked and sank his teeth into the rider's leg as he was pedaling. The Barrington Hills police and the McHenry County Animal Control came and took a report. The rider was taken to the hospital where he was treated. Apparently, this is not the first dog bite incident in the area. So far, they have not located the dog.

"The incident occurred in Barrington Hills on Braeburn Road about 0.1 mile south of Algonquin/River Road.

"If you ride in that area, please be careful.

"If you have any information about the dog or any other riders that have been attacked by a dog in that area, please [post it here as a reply and I will forward to the person who wrote this originally; I don't like to post the e-mail addresses of others]

"Finally, pass this message along to any other people or groups that may ride in the Barrington area."
