The Chainlink

I waited too long for a reasonably priced train ticket-- wanted to go down for the Midwest Bicycle Expo and Swap Meet (no I'm not some sort of swap meet junkie-- some good friends are involved in organizing this and I wanted to be there for their big event).
If anyone was considering heading down and back I'd appreciate a ride and of course help with the cost. Need to be back Sunday night.

Howard, what about Megabus? They have a bus leaving tomorrow morning at 8:30, and one in the afternoon at 4:30. $17 and $20 respectively. They depart from Union Station.

Return trip on Sunday leaves STL at 8:30AM for $20.

Greyhound is a little more expensive.
The event is Sunday so the cost is $20 outbound on Saturday and $25 return on Sunday.
I like the train so much better than anything else, but this is certainly an option, thanks.
Any personal experience with them? Do they leave and generally run on time?
Can I get a refund if I don't use the tickets like I can with Amtrak?
If I don't buy right now are the prices going to go up?
Thx.
I've never ridden on Megabus, sorry. The trip on Burlington Trailways coming back from Iowa in July was on-time, clean and comfortable though, if that helps at all.

I've taken the megabus up to milwaukee a few times for cubs games and they are always right on schedule
oh suck it up and take the train! Ridership needs to go up so I can get a raise!
If anyone if taking Amtrak (or a bus) and wants to t take their bike with them, I have a couple of bike boxes available for free. See listing in Marketplace.
I've taken Megabus to Ann Arbor and Indianapolis. It's generally comfortable and on time...though in bad weather there can be delays. Some of their buses even have wifi.

I don't believe that the tickets are refundable.

Hey John,

Do you know how much it is extra to take a bike on the train. I'd like to take mine in a few weeks if I could use one of your boxes that would be great.

I ended up booking travel to ride through the night (if you swing by to rob my house could you please water my plants?).  Any stats on which part of the bus is safest when the driver fall asleep?

I'm looking at the site and don't see anything-- is there a stated amount of time by which one is advised to arrive ahead of departure time?

Over the wings. The frame has additional reinforcement at that location.
