Anyone attending the Chicago Rally to Restore Sanity?

We're thinking of going down to check it out on Saturday.  Not quite sure what the Chicago rally will have (a few politicians and celebs and perhaps a broudcast of the Washington Rally), but its only 3 hours and it could be interesting.

It's a rally, not a convention. :)

The park district ran out of time to review the permit application. But has told the organizer that the event would not be closed down unless there was an emergancy and that they are still expecting everyone to show up. The biggest thing this means is that the organizers have to supply their own stage instead of using the band shell. The lady who put everything together has done a really awesome job given the amount of time to plan it. Should be fun. I'll print out a "sane" sign or two. Still debating riding down to the Obama rally afterwards.

I understand anyone you disagree with is a racist, but do you have any thoughts on how to pay off $13,650,000,000,000 with only 110,000,000 income taxpayers? Because after 8 years of Bush and Republican spending including the medicare prescription handout to the pharmaceutical industry, trillion dollar bailouts for privately owned companies, 2 wars with over 5700 dead US soldiers, 120,000 Dead Iraqi civilians, 20,000 Dead Afghani civilians, US military units deployed in 135 different foreign countries, A US drug war with over 30,000 dead Mexicans and now Congress' $2,000,000,000,000 per year budget deficit, I am hoping that sanity prevails soon.

Nice try.
Problem is, people who watch the Daily Show/Colbert Report, tend to be better informed about political events than the average media consumer.

Why do you feel that voting rights should only be used by those who get news from credible sources? I would think the average daily show watcher is more educated that the average voter. I would never discourage anyone from exercising their right to vote. We are all entitled to our vote and our vote is equal to the vote of all others. Regardless of age, gender, race, education or political affiliation.

The “intent” of this rally is to give a voice to civil political discourse. A reminder that the loudest voices do not represent all of the opinions. I have not had cable for over 8 years, and I watch the daily show only when someone suggests a funny episode online, I would not consider myself someone who "gets their news" from comedy central. I generally gather my news as many other educated people do from multiple sources including but not limited to the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, PBS, and some local news programs that I obtain over the broadcast networks (again I don't pay for TV). While there will be humor, it should also remind politicians that the people they serve are not all shouting for an extremist movement.

I have already voted and attending this rally is not related to how I voted.

The problem with civil discourse is that it is basically impossible to raise subjects like publicly- and openly-acknowledged torture, abduction and assassination policies often enacted by flying killer robots anywhere in the world without civility taking a hit.
