The Chainlink

Here is a photograph taken by Lewis Carroll - a superlative amateur photographer as well as author of the Alice books. Made in October 1869, it shows his younger brother Wilfred Dodgson on a Boneshaker Velocipede bicycle. Any other photographs out there like this?

Here's a cool pic of Major Taylor from around 1905. They used to use all kinds of crazy "multicycles" and steam powered pacing bikes for speed records. Apparently the bike he's riding in this pic is one of the only still in existence and identified as one he actually rode. It's in a museum in Australia according to the web page, and the owner turned down $30,000 for it.
