This email is from a friend ('tis all I know). Anyone know more?
Last night just before 8:00 a car hit a bike on Catalpa near my alley. I did hear a big crash. Then I saw the blue police lights, so I stuck my head out the kitchen window.
Here's what I could tell: The victim was a woman. She was lying in the street (Catalpa). An ambulance took her away. I did not see a helmet anywhere. A plainclothes policeman took her bike and put it in his car. I did not see any lights on the bike. The hitter was a man with white hair.
Thoughts: Even in daylight, when you're driving thru the alley into Catalpa, you cannot see bikers passing the alley on Catalpa. Cars are in the way. I once had to come to a screeching halt for a Catalpa biker. This woman, as far as I could tell, had no helmet or lights. That's double-bad in a spot that's bad already. I hope she'll be OK.

Agreed. My wife was pulling out of our alley onto Catalpa and got into an accident with an oncoming car. You have to be super vigilant.
