The Chainlink

I just bought a lot of 25 bells on eBay.  They might be crap, but if so, they will be cute crap.  I thought it would be a nice way to drag myself and some of the other Chainlinkers out of the woodwork.  I paid $20 for the lot.  I'll sell them for a buck apiece (huge profit there!).  The only catch is that we need to connect in person, somewhere in or near the Loop.  I'm not going to mail them, and have no idea where the next ChainLink get-together might be where I could reasonably expect to show up (hint: I've not been to one yet...)

I'll update this thread once they have arrived.  Then we can figure out how to exchange bells and bucks. (Maybe meet some lunchtime at an intersection by the Dearborn PBL?

I want one! I've been meaning to get one for a while. I'm generally near the south end of the Dearborn PBL and would love to trade a buck for a bell when they come in!

Skip, meetup at Daley Plaza or at the plaza at the post office or both!

Great idea Skip! Can you post a pic? Or a link to the eBay post or something?

EDIT: sorry Skip, I glossed over the "I'll update this thread once they have arrived" part.

They've been shipped, but haven't yet arrived.  Here's a pic from the auction. (I have no idea what "MAKAI" means.  Hopefully it's not a curse in Hawaiian or something...)

It means towards the sea.  It's generally used along with mauka (towards the mountains), diamond head, and ewa to give directions on Oahu.  Cardinal directions aren't used so much there.

If that is what it means then I must have one.  Bikes and the sea--my two favorite things.

I'll take 2!  Where and when?

Don't quite know yet.  Somewhere in the Loop.  After I get the bells.  On a sunny day.  I will announce here when I have more details...

The bells arrived Friday.  I've got them here in the office. It looks like it will be nice Tuesday.  How about meeting at Dearborn and Washington, by the Picasso sculpture at noon?  I can arrange more meetups as well, but let's start with this one and see how it goes.  If you can't make it but want to grab one (or more), I work at 71 S. Wacker (across from the CME building).  You can shoot me an email (skip@pobox.com) or give me a call (847 971 7098) and I can come downstairs and meet you.

I am going to do my best to see you tomorrow at noon.

I'll try to be there tomorrow for one.

Thanks!

I'll be there :)
