In the usual very hazardous Navy Pier area.

CBS2 just ran this Navy Pier sidewalk safety story yesterday.

Authorities have just announced that this does not appear at this time to be a terrorist related attack.
In five years, the Enterprise completed a mission that spanned universes. In the same length of time, the City of Chicago will be unable to complete a 600-yard pathway. In the meantime, the area around Navy Pier has degenerated into an even worse catastrophe for pedestrians and cyclists alike. Mark my words, that 1,750 feet will exceed $80 million by the time all the cronies are paid off. That's almost $50,000.00 a foot.
The people responsible for the "planning" of this project should have been fired a long time ago. There should be a full investigation of where the money has gone, and to whom. Hundreds of thousands of people have not only been inconvenienced, but endangered, by this fiasco.
I don't usually ride this stretch on the weekend, but happened to an hour before this happened. It is remarkably busier on the weekend than during the week. I was struck by the sheer chaos of all of the pedestrians, cyclists, and cars, most of them tourists, moving in all directions. Unlike during the week, I waited for the walk signal before riding across. After I got home, I unfortunately wasn't surprised to learn this had happened.
