A big congrats to Julie and her teammate for getting 4th in the coed division and 7th overall in the Urban Assault Ride! I overslept for the actual ride (oops) but caught the after party. It looked like a great group of people and there were several chainlinkers there.
Were you there? What did you think?

Oh, and the free Clif MOJO bars they were giving out? Mmmmm...

Thanks Leah! You came out for the PARTY which was a blast. I wish I would have known earlier about the bike limbo contest so I could have signed up. I have tons of pictures and will post them somewhere at some point soon...

For anyone who considered doing this scavenger game I highly recommend it for next year. There were 250 teams of 2. It was more about wits and Chicago knowledge than speed. I have to give credit to my partner who did most of the navigating and problem solving. Jeff, have you joined yet??? Jeff, check out facebook too...

Oh and Jody, thanks for getting our attention at the zoo so we didn't pass you.
it was a blast! Joe Steve and I completed the race and all secret locations even though we blew past our first checkpoint and had to make up about 30+ mins ... we were way too pumped in the morning and road right by hamlin park; ah well, we got to meet Leah and drink lots of Fat Tire...

i won a frisbee too, killer
I had SO much fun on this ride! My brother and I were a team, The Fowler Prowlers...if anyone remembers us. We did pretty well, other than the wheel barrow challenge, which was quite difficult for both of us. We placed 41st in co-ed...it's no 4th, but we know there are a few ways we could definitely improve for next year.

Long story short, we had a blast and I hope it continues to grow next year.

And its how I found out about chainlink, so it was an even better day ;o)
the New Belgium bell they gave to racers saved me the other day... an SUV was about to merge straight into me as i was passing and i gave him a "RING RING" - then he looked (after the bell, but not before) and stopped

i love the friendly sound it makes, so much better than yelling something sarcastic or demeaning

and i thought it would only be good for ringing at pretty girls during mass rides

thanks new belgium!

oh and joe steve and i were 31st for males - way better than i could have imagined - esp. considering our rookie mistake (alluded to earlier)
Leah, according to the results on the site, you guys came in dead last...
Um, that's because we slept through it. But hey, their stats say we finished! :)
In real races, DFL gets a prize!
I'm a bit late to this, but my girlfriend (annie_wu) and I competed in co-ed as well! We took 8th in co-ed and would have done better if it weren't for that silly wheelbarrow challenge. We're both still recovering from that... The whole thing was a blast!
BRUISED RIBS SUCK.

Sounds like a case of sore ribs and sore losers! Just kidding... My legs hurt from the keg walk!
