I found this whilst looking up "bicycle safety". It's kinda funny, and some of it is actually valid. And funny.

I like the "break laws with impunity."

I just know that any car would sneak through a light if they could and get away with it.
Well, maybe if the bike traffic laws actually made sense, like in some places...

Common sense?

"Stopping at empty intersections is cumbersome for drivers and cyclists alike — but cyclists aren't likely to kill pedestrians with their carelessness."

Excellent second half of that sentence!

It's sad how far behind Chicago (the third largest US city) is when it comes to bike laws.

That's the HUGE difference between bikes and cars. And I think the yield to whoever has the right of way is how most bikes behave anyway.... It just makes more sense!

I think that if there were as many bikes approaching intersections as there are cars, the "impunity" would change. It's the congestion, not the vehicle. When I'm the only bike next to a line of waiting cars, why not go. But imagine 25 or 50 cyclist at rush hour all getting to the same intersection at the same time from different directions - people will get hurt if traffic laws are disobeyed. Sure getting killed by a car sucks, but broken bones and road rash from getting hit by a bike is only marginally better.
Sweeeeeeeeeett.
