ive been a bit obsessed with these lately. and what you say kinda rings true actually. Willy Harley stuck a motor on his bicycle 109 years ago, and tweaked it with his buddy Art Davison. Many of the early motorcycles did look like this.
im looking to start making of my own now.

Austro Daimler came out with this one back in the middle 1970s. The Vent Noir had a great black metallic base coat with gold accents on the lugs. Full Campy Super Record on the top model as well:
