The near west side of Chicago continues to change and develop as brand new mega 4,000 square foot homes stand side-by-side with late 1880's compact frame cottages. Loft and bath house conversions, hip bars and restaurants and boutiques are taking over the closed store fronts of the old mom and pop ethnic places, but many of those have been replaced with new etnicities, some hold on and some are all new.
Come explore the West Town, Bucktown, Wicker Park, Humboldt Park hoods and see the differences block by block and ward by ward.
This ride will be a social ride and is perfect for socializing and rubber necking, albeit safely, at the many interesting buildings we will be riding past. We will also amble through Humboldt Park, a reclaimed jewel of exploration. The ride will also include food as we will stop at a 100 year old family bakery still owned by the orginal family on the west side and a post ride lunch.
As always we strongly encourage all riders to wear helmets, bring water, a lock and money for food.
