Description

UPAF’s Ride for the Arts sponsored by Miller Lite is one of the largest one-day recreational rides in the country, with 7,000 riders raising funds to benefit the United Performing Arts Fund. Ride through historic Milwaukee along the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan, then join us for the Finish Line Party to enjoy UPAF Member and Affiliate Group performances at the Summerfest Grounds.

NEW TO 2010: A 12-mile route will travel west along the Hank Aaron State Trail turning at Miller Park and a rest stop at the Harley Davidson Museum!

When: Sunday, June 6, 2010

What: UPAF’s 30th annual Ride for the Arts sponsored by Miller Lite. The Ride offers a 5-, 12-, 25-, 50- and 75-mile bike route. After the Ride, participants can enjoy the Forest County Potawatomi Foundation Finish Line Party at the Summerfest Grounds. The party includes performances from UPAF groups, children's activities and a mini-bicycle expo sponsored by Wheel & Sprocket.

Where: The Ride starts and finishes at the Summerfest Grounds located at 200 N. Harbor Drive. Free parking is available in Summerfest’s Lot H. The various routes travel past several Milwaukee landmarks and continue along the scenic shores of Lake Michigan through numerous Milwaukee-area communities and parks. A new 12-mile route will travel west along the Hank Aaron State Trail turning at Miller Park and a rest stop at the Harley Davidson Museum!

Why: To help keep our performing arts scene dynamic and a vital part of our community's culture. UPAF is among the nation's largest united arts funds in terms of dollars raised and number of donors. The organization provides financial support to 34 beneficiary groups.

Not only will I attend, I'll be wearing a yellow marshal's shirt on the 65 mile route.
