Family and friends gather to remember victim of fatal bike crash, increase awareness around cyclists’ safety
What: Family and friends of Tyler Fabeck to honor his memory and increase awareness around cyclists’ safety. Tyler was fatally struck by a car while riding his bicycle at the intersection of Logan Boulevard and Western Avenue on April 20, 2008, one week before his 23rd birthday. The memorial marks one year since his death. Members of the Fabeck family and Active Transportation Alliance will speak and then lead the memorial to the site of a ghost bike installed in his honor at Logan Boulevard and Western Avenue.
When: 5 p.m. Monday, April 20
Where: Meet at Logan Boulevard and Campbell Avenue in Chicago. The procession will travel east on Logan Boulevard and end at the ghost bike installed in his memory at Western Avenue.
Who: The Fabeck family, Active Transportation Alliance, Ald. Manny Flores (1st Ward) and the bicycling community.
