No, this isn't about trying, after having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, to carry any message to alcoholics, or to practice any principles in all our affairs.
It's about trying to ride to Three Floyds every month this year! Now there's a consistent schedule -- the 4th Saturday of every month -- others have opportunities to lead (I can't make it every time), and you can qualify for the F-12 Award.
The ride takes the lakefront trail south from the Clock Tower. You can join up anywhere along the trail. Just let the group know where so they can look for you.
45 miles total if you take the Metra back, 70 if you ride both ways. 14-17 mph. I like to get there before they open at noon (it's the third-best brewery in the world, so sometimes there's a line). Bring money, government-issued ID, a lock, lights since it's one of the shortest days of the year, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer you can't get in Chicago.
Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, conversation about this ride, Metra schedule, Metra rules, and, to save a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.

updated forecast:
Saturday 12/27 30% / < 1 in Partly cloudy skies early. A few snow showers developing later in the day. Temps nearly steady in the mid 30s. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 30%. |
updated new since last time:
Remember Krunk Monk? We modernized it for the holiday season. Get Turnt!
Our "not normal" version of an English Southern Brown ale. More bitter and higher alcohol than a traditional southern brown, but what else would you expect from a Munster-style beer? Dark, a little fruity, and perfect for these colder temperatures.
not new, but only available this season:
Alpha King's festive cousin. A big American Christmas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt, Mexican sugar, and of course, tons of strange American hops. Cheers!
dress warm! 25F + 20 mph = Wind Chill 11. Old Wind Chill -3!
Saturday 12/27 0% / 0 in Some clouds in the morning will give way to mainly sunny skies for the afternoon. High near 25F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. |

and now more guest drafts than in the past, including:
Don’t take the simple things for granted; our pale ale with Pilsen malt and Apollo hops yields a light-bodied, yet fully flavored, hoppy brew
Black molasses, dark brown sugar Hops: Saaz (very small amount) Spices: Sweet orange peel, cinnamon sticks Yeast: House English ale yeast
Warrior is brewed using a unique style called “Wet Hopping,” which requires only hops that are no more than a day from the vine. “Wet Hopping” imparts only a mild aroma, but an exceptionally fresh unfiltered hop flavor.
