Description

George Christensen will present a commentary and slide show on his latest bicycle adventure, a 3,500-mile circuit of Turkey, to the Armchair Travel Series of the Lincoln Belmont Branch Library at 6:30 p.m. on March 8.  All are welcome and admission is free.  The library is located at 1659 W. Melrose near the intersection of Lincoln, Belmont and Ashland.

George's loop of Turkey this past November and December took him east along the Silk Road through the heart of Turkey to its eastern border with  Iran, Iraq and Syria and then back to Istanbul along the Mediterranean.  His travels included the otherworldly wonders of  Cappadocia, Lake Van, Mount Ararat, assorted Greek and Roman ruins, Christian and Islamic pilgrimage sites, the Gallipoli battle field, the home town of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus). lectures to university students and much much more.
