Bring your bike and the willingness to get dirty so the Great Western Trail and Illinois Prairie Paths can get clean. REI will not only provide the trash bags and gloves for the clean but we are going to reward you with snacks, drinks and a free bike inspection and adjustment. That?s right a REI bike tech will be on hand to check that your bike is running smoothing and make any minor adjustments needed. So come over to clean up for a couple of hours then stay for a bike ride on the trails.
Please register at REI, so we know how many people to plan for. REI will be stationed by the parking lot at Timber Ridge Forest Preserve in Winfield. Both the Great Western Trail and the Illinois Prairie Path are accessible from this location. Please note that there are no washrooms located here but are available at the adjacent Kline Creek Farm.
Please dress for the daily weather, wear good shoes and be prepared with sunscreen, a sunhat and bug repellant, if needed. If you have garden or work gloves please bring them, otherwise REI will provide rubber gloves. Everyone will need to sign a waiver, in addition we ask that you sign in and out. REI will be there unless there are strong storms.
Please bring a water bottle, as REI will provide a cooler of lemonade and water. REI will also provide some snacks.
We ask that you put in 2 hours of clean up service to receive the free bike inspection.
The event begins at 9am and lasts until 2pm with the final bike inspection being at 3pm, so we ask that you sign in no later than noon.
