Description

Join Big Shoulders Realty and the Chicago Cycling Club for a narrated bicycle tour of North Park, focusing on the history of the area, its neighborhoods and architecture. North Park is Chicago Community Area #13 and sits just 9 miles northwest of the Loop. It is cradled between the two branches of the Chicago River, and is part of and/or adjacent to some of the most developed and realized bike trails in the city. It is a quiet residential area, sharing parks, tree-lined streets and marvelous buildings with adjacent Albany Park , Forest Glen, Lincolnwood, Lincoln Square and West Ridge.

Our tours are always:

1- Free
2 - 12-16 miles
3 - no-drop rides
4 - narrated with information on the area's history, culture and architecture
5 - never a sales or marketing pitch of anykind
6 - in partnership with a great cycling advocacy, club, group, or organization - this month it is the Chicago Cycling Club
7 - free loaner bikes while they last

If you've enjoyed the rides in the past, I hope to see you again this month. If you have never tried it, it is hard to beat a late September ride through the semi-sorta woodsiest part of the city. Come along and join us this time around.

Next month is West Town with West Town Bikes. HALLOWEEN RIDE - Costumes welcomed.

Comment by Lee Diamond on September 20, 2009 at 6:23pm: Any chance anyone is up for volunteering for a little sign putting-upping before the ride, and some people wrangling? The park is huge and spread out and accessed through North Park Village so some direction is needed.

Should have thought that one out before hand. Alas.

We had our first person show up at the Lincoln Square ride expecting bikes to be there for her and I felt bad that she came all the way out, but I need to know in advance who I am bringing bikes for, sizing, etc. Cheers - Lee
