Folks,
Let’s beat the winter blues with a roughly 30-mile bicycle tour of some of Chicagoland’s premier establishments for tropical drinks in a faux-Polynesian setting.
Meet at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington, on Friday, January 16 at 5:30 pm. We’ll ride about 12 miles southwest for dinner in North Riverside at Chef Shangri-La, 7930 W. 26th, an old-school Chinese-Polynesian restaurant with amazing décor and pretty good food: http://www.critiki.com/cgi-bin/location.cgi?loc_id=499
After dinner we’ll pedal about six miles north for drinks at River Grove’s Hala Kahiki, 2834 N. River Road, a legendary multi-room tiki bar complex with its own gift shop: http://www.hala-kahiki.com/
From there, it’s a dozen or so miles southeast to central Chicago. If riders are in the mood for a nightcap, we could stop on the way home at the Paradise Lounge, 7068 W. Belmont in Chicago’s Schorsch Village neighborhood, a Polish-Polynesian bar:
