Description

7th Annual Three Floyds Brewpub Ride

9:00 AM Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Daley Plaza or Promontory Point (Lakefront in Hyde Park)

We shall depart Daley Plaza no later than 9:30 AM, meeting up with the Promontory Point group at 10:15 AM, and continue to the Three Floyds Brewpub in Munster, Indiana, arriving around 12 PM. We will depart the brewpub around 4 PM. The total distance round trip is approximately 65 miles.

Please RSVP if attending.

The inaugural Three Floyd’s ride was conceived and organized by Mark Sinclair and took place on January 14, 2006. As many of you know, Mark died on April 14, 2006, at age 34, a few days after suffering a brain aneurysm. It was Mark’s hope that this would become an annual event.

Thanks,

Kevin

Depending on the weather, there is also the sometimes very attractive option of returning via Metra from the  Flossmoor Station [1035 Sterling Avenue  Flossmoor, IL 60422-1252 , approximately 10 miles west of Three Floyds.

The fine print:

There will be no support vehicle on this ride and each rider is responsible for themselves. The pace will be 12-14 mph with a short break at Wolf Lake.

Mid January weather may be extreme, but this ride will proceed regardless of wet, windy and/or freezing weather. Please be prepared for the cold as well as flats/mechanical problems.

Checklist:
Growler
Snacks
Lights
Lock
Pump, tube, tools
Extra layers of clothing (more than you expect to use)

You are all a lot more devoted than me, I was half way to the train station and bailed.

Have a Robert the Bruce for me.

good call on leaving earlier. the current forecast:

Partly Cloudy
27° F

speaking of extreme weather, some photos from last winter (a snow ride, not the fff ride) made it into this article: doctors' lifestyle changes can have ripple effect.

Three Floyds has become extremely popular as a weekend destination. The doors open at noon. Last year, on a very cold day, we showed up with 20+ people, and about half of them ended up standing outside for an hour or so, before they could get seating. Any interest in pushing back the start time to shoot for a noon arrival?
