No, this isn't about making a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understand Him.
It's about trying to ride to Three Floyds every month this year. Now there's a consistent schedule -- the 4th Saturday of every month -- others have opportunities to lead (I can't make it every time), and you can qualify for the F-12 Award.
The ride takes the lakefront trail south from the Clock Tower. You can join up anywhere along the trail. Just let the group know where so they can look for you.
45 miles total if you ride to Flossmoor Station and take the Metra, 50 if you ride to 93rd and take the Metra or to 100th and take the J14, 55 if you ride to 71st and take the J14, 70 if you ride both ways. 15-18 mph. I like to get there before they open at noon (it's the fourth-best brewery in the world, so sometimes there's a line). Bring money, government-issued ID, a lock, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer you can't get in Chicago.
Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, Flossmoor Metra train schedule, 93rd St Metra train schedule, Jeffrey Jump (J14) bus schedule, Metra policy, CTA guide, and, to save a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.

thanks for coming, what a great day
Good times! Thanks Bob!
actually looks like 9:47 at 31st st, 10:02 at point
Thanks, Serge! I'll only make it if there are others in the group who want to continue to Griffith--so unlikely. Have a great ride!
Promontory Point ETA? 9:45?
forecast changed, in an interesting way: 35 instead of 53, ENE instead of WSW.
Saturday 03/28 0% Partly cloudy skies. High around 35F. Winds ENE at 5 to 10 mph. |
*you* could! and meet up with the other ride? i'm supposed to be at dinner at 7, and also still out of shape.
We could potentially stop in Griffith on the way home . . .
In the beginning was the command prompt. Shout out to MS-DOS, autoexec.bat, config, sys, and text based OS everywhere.
Purse snatching is perpetrated by the lowest of street hoods. We would never stoop to the likes of that ilk. We far prefer to snatch your throat with flavor in liquid form with this beer. Cheers.
This Belgian-Gnomish style ale is as great as your garden gnome, but with strawberries essence.
Saturday 03/28
20% Intervals of clouds and sunshine. High 53F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. |
