There are cyclists that bike hundreds of miles year after year on the roads without a crash or injury and it is more than just luck. Experienced cyclists educate themselves on the rules of the road and common situations for crashes so they know how to avoid or reduce exposure to hazardous situations. To help fill in the gap between safe and risky behavior, Ride Illinois, the statewide bicycle advocacy organization, developed BikeSafetyQuiz.com in 2013. This free online tool has proven to be an easy-to-use resource for adult cyclists, child cyclists, motorists, and truck drivers to learn, using a quiz format, how to share the road. Join us to hear Dave Simmons, Executive Director of Ride Illinois, talk about how the idea for the quiz came about, how it was developed, results so far, and how to take the quiz yourself and increase your safety on the road. Dave will also talk about another new education program in the works plus share Ride Illinois updates and plans for 2021. Meeting sponsored by Earth Rider Cycling and Chicago Cycling Club.
