Description

No, this isn't about humbly asking Him to remove our shortcomings.

It's about riding to Three Floyds and boosting our cognitive function every month this year! There's a somewhat consistent schedule -- usually the 4th Saturday of the month -- and you can qualify for the F-12 Award.

In accordance with the Mayor's and Governor's updated guidelines regarding the Covid-19 pandemic, this ride is limited to 50 people, first come, first served, and social distancing is strongly encouraged.

Chainlink note: In accordance with the CDC guidelines, face masks and distancing is strongly recommended.

We meet between 7:30 and 8 at Intelligentsia Broadway to caffeinate. We then take Barry east and the lakefront trail south. Feel free to join up anywhere along the trail. Just let us know where so we can look for you.

42 miles total if to return you ride to Hammond and take the South Shore Line, 45 if you ride to Flossmoor Station and take the Metra, 50 if you ride to 93rd and take the Metra or to 100th and take the J14, 55 if you ride to 71st and take the J14, 70 if you ride all the way. 12 mph. They're the thirty-eighth-best brewery in the world! But they're still only doing Curbside Pickup, please pre-order. Bring money, government-issued ID, a lock, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer and spirits you can't get in Chicago.

Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, South Shore Line schedule, Metra Electric train schedule, Jeffrey Jump (J14) bus schedule, Bikes on the South Shore Line, Bikes on the Metra, Bikes on the Bus, and, to save a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.

Running down the road? Try to loosen your load!

PS: I give these rides these names because I find them humorous in an ironic way. It's not my intent to make light of addictions, efforts to recover from addictions, or 12-step peer support groups like AA. If you're trying to drink in moderation, we'll support you. If you're trying to abstain, you may want to give this ride a pass.

new since last time:

  • Nepheline Growler - PICK-UP ONLY
    Hazy IPA
Hazy gold in color with a strong foundation of malt flavor and body to balance the tropical fruit hop aroma and pithy bitterness.
    52 IBU / 6.3% ABV
  • Hurricanrana Growler - PICK-UP ONLY

slightly sweet and subtly sour ale inspired by the aerobatic wrestling move in conjuction wiht the inebriating cocktail of the French Quarter. Our latest version has blackberry and oak flavors with a tart finish.
    7.3% ABV, 9 IBU

  • Black is Beautiful 500mL Bottle 4pk - PICK-UP ONLY
An oatmeal stout brewed as a part of the Black is Beautiful initiative, to raise awareness for the injustices that people of color face daily + raise funds for police brutality reform. Our interpretation is an hoppy oatmeal stout with notes of semi sweet chocolate, and dark roasted coffee and cookie dough. An exuberant amounts of hops lends a bright citrus finish. All proceeds will be donated to Assata's DaughtersBrave Space Alliance, and My Block My Hood My City.
    7.5% ABV

and at 18th street:

  • 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand & Gaston - In House Consumption Only
