Description

No, this isn't about being entirely ready to have God remove all defects of character.

It's about riding to Three Floyds and boosting our cognitive function every month this year! There's a somewhat consistent schedule -- usually the 4th Saturday of the month -- and you can qualify for the F-12 Award.

The ride takes the lakefront trail south from the Clock Tower. You can join up anywhere along the trail. Just let the group know where so they can look for you.

37 miles total if to return you ride to Hammond and take the South Shore Line, 40 if you ride to Flossmoor Station and take the Metra, 45 if you ride to 93rd and take the Metra or to 100th and take the J14, 50 if you ride to 71st and take the J14, 60 if you ride all the way. 12 mph. I like to get to Three Floyds before they open at 11:00 (they're still one of the top 100 brewers in the world, and the food, like the beer, is unapologetically in your face with flavor, so sometimes there's a line). Bring money, government-issued ID, a lock, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer you can't get in Chicago.

Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, South Shore Line schedule, Metra Electric train schedules, Jeffrey Jump (J14) bus schedule, Bikes on the South Shore Line, Bikes on the Metra, Bikes on the Bus, and, to save a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.

Running down the road? Try to loosen your load!

PS: I give these rides these names because I find them humorous in an ironic way. It's not my intent to make light of addictions, efforts to recover from addictions, or 12-step peer support groups like AA. If you're trying to drink in moderation, we'll support you. If you're trying to abstain, you may want to give this ride a pass.

new since last time:

  • CheerTeam
    7.2% ABV 62 IBU $7 Imperial Pint / 5oz pour $3

The new combination of American hops in this enigmatic IPA is an instant classic. The very fruity and may we say juicy hop character in this IPA is unrelentingly delicious.

  • Anspach & Hobday The Baltic Porter
    7.3% ABV $6 Tulip

    Brewed for their 4th Anniversary.

  • Burn 'Em Joey Wheat
    6.8% ABV $5 Snifter

'Merica is freedom. Freedom is being able to have a beer before noon. Now we offer you that freedom. Joey Wheat is a medium bodied American Wheat Ale brewed with copious amounts of Infusco's Light Kenyan Roast Coffee.

  • Shredd Session
    ABV 5% IBU 78 $9 22-oz Bomber

A session IPA brewed with our friends from SoCal’s Pizza Port Brewing. Piney, citrus and tropical notes with a bready, toasty finish.

  • oyster mushroom pizza

house-made ricotta, pickled ramp, pea shoot, lemon, pecorino, chili oil $15
