No, this isn't about being entirely ready to have God remove all defects of character.
It's about riding to Three Floyds and boosting our cognitive function every month this year! There's a somewhat consistent schedule -- usually the 4th Saturday of the month -- and you can qualify for the F-12 Award.
The ride takes the lakefront trail south from the Clock Tower. You can join up anywhere along the trail. Just let the group know where so they can look for you.
37 miles total if to return you ride to Hammond and take the South Shore Line, 40 if you ride to Flossmoor Station and take the Metra, 45 if you ride to 93rd and take the Metra or to 100th and take the J14, 50 if you ride to 71st and take the J14, 60 if you ride all the way. 12 mph. I like to get to Three Floyds before they open at 11:00 (they're still one of the top 100 brewers in the world, and the food, like the beer, is unapologetically in your face with flavor, so sometimes there's a line). Bring money, government-issued ID, a lock, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer you can't get in Chicago.
Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, South Shore Line schedule, Metra Electric train schedules, Jeffrey Jump (J14) bus schedule, Bikes on the South Shore Line, Bikes on the Metra, Bikes on the Bus, and, to save a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.
Running down the road? Try to loosen your load!
PS: I give these rides these names because I find them humorous in an ironic way. It's not my intent to make light of addictions, efforts to recover from addictions, or 12-step peer support groups like AA. If you're trying to drink in moderation, we'll support you. If you're trying to abstain, you may want to give this ride a pass.

mark, glad you were rewarded for stepping up :-)
I'm at the clocktower by the bike station. I don't see you guys.
Great Ana! And I agree on weather!
I'll meet you at 7:30 am at the clock tower. The weather should be perfect for this!
Oops (must be Friday) - edit to Promontory Point time....
Start time has been moved up to 7:30AM from clock tower (near Waveland lakefront golf course and tennis courts).
That means wheels rolling 7:30AM so get there 10-15 min. before that. Helmets required.
We will have a brief stop at Queen's Landing (across from Buckingham Fountain) ~8:05AM
and at Promontory Point (by lamb water fountain) ~9:15AM ~8:40AM if those work better.
@Mark My friend Mary and I will see you at 7:30 at the clock tower. See you tomorrow!
