Description

When? Sunday, October 4th
Time? 10:00 AM
Where: South end of the Sauganash Trail, http://tinyurl.com/mqgu5c
Bryn Mawr and Kostner Avenue
Host and mover: Alderman Margaret Laurino of the 39th Ward

Reason: to explore Sauganash and some history of the area (Ald. Laurino is a history major graduate of Northeastern)

REAL reason: to convince another alderman that bicycling is taken seriously by a lot of the city's residents!

It's a short ride, but everyone is invited so we can get a MASSIVE turnout, as many as possible, far more than Ald Laurino is expecting.

How is this promoting cycling in Albany Park? We're starting in Sauganash then going north. Sounds like a nice ride nonetheless. I'll be there to check out the new trail if my schedule permits.

Chicago's newest bike path, the Saugansh Trail, Valley Line Multi-Use
Trail Project Completed Crews have completed work on the Valley Line
Trail project. The one mile long, multi-use trail was constructed on a
former railroad embankment located just east of Kostner Avenue between
Bryn Mawr Avenue and Devon Avenue in the Sauganash community.

Also known as "Marge's Mile" after Alderman Margaret Laurino, 39th Ward,
who will lead the ride and provide historical notes of interest about
the surrounding neighborhood.

RSVP'd because this sounds like a fantastic event, but had to rescind due to other commitment. Have a great ride!

Her goal is to promote bikes in Albany Park. So what a great way to flock a zillion bikes in there. That would be a beautiful thing. :-)
