This premier race is a salute to Roger DeLanghe who has made countless contributions to cycling over the years. Brutally fast, this 50 lap scratch race offers the largest purse of the season.

The race honors the legendary Roger DeLanghe, an icon on the Midwest race scene. Since his emigration from Belgium years ago, Roger has worked tirelessly to promote bike racing throughout the region, culminating in the addition of the Quad Cities Criterium to the USCF’s National Racing Calendar. For many years Roger manned the camera for the velodrome’s dramatic finishes. Fans and riders, please join us on this special night.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Famed Olympian Pro Cyclist Colby Pierce to Race in Northbrook, IL - 7/24/2010

The Northbrook Cycle Committee is pleased to announce that famed professional cyclist Colby Pearce will be competing in this years Roger Delanghe Trophy race on August 5th 2010 at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome.

Born, June 12, 1972, Colby has excelled on the road and on the track, where he won a number of national and international events around the globe. He is an outstanding endurance track racer, focusing recently on the Madison and has competed in a number of Six Days events. He also competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, finishing 14th in the points race. The August 5th race in Northbrook, IL is a salute to Roger DeLanghe who made countless contributions to cycling over the years. Brutally fast, this 50 lap scratch race offers a $1500.00 purse and pays the top 25 finishing riders. Fans and riders, please join us on this special night. A full night of racing for various categories is planned. Spectating at the velodrome costs $2.00 per person and kids 12 and under are always free. The Roger Delanghe trophy is kind of the Stanley cup of Bicycle Track Racing. The winners name is engraved on the trophy and records are kept for all riders who participate in the race. Any finish in the top 25 of any race during the history earns a rider points in the overall cumulative rider performance. This is called the Roger Delanghe Golden Lion and its kind of a track ironman/ironwoman. The past winners and points leaders are as follows:
