Family and friends of Douglas Demott, who was fatally struck on his bicycle by an elderly driver in southwest-suburban Tinley Park last January, will gather on Sunday, October 27, at noon to install a white-painted ghost bike memorial at the crash site. The event will begin in the parking lot of the nearby Holiday Inn Chicago-Tinley Park, 18501 Convention Center Dr. Members of the Chicago-area bike community are invited to attend to show their support; you can RVSP on Facebook to let the organizers know how many attendees to expect.

If you would like to bike to the ceremony, a group will meet at 8 a.m. at Dollop Cafe, 343 S. Dearborn (entrance is at Van Buren and Plymouth, below the Harold Washington Library 'L' stop), departing at 8:30 sharp. The route is about 30 miles and we will ride at roughly 10 mph.
After the Ghost Bike ceremony we'll stop for lunch at nearby Joy Yee Noodles and Rice. After that we'll ride two more miles to the Tinley Park Metra station to catch the 2:41 p.m. train back to LaSalle Street Station, arriving at 3:35.
