Description

This will be one of your first chances for a group ride down the newly build Cal-Sag trail as well as try the newly opened Blue Island Beer company.

June 6th will be the official opening of the Cal-Sag trail, we will be joining the festivities by riding from the city to the start of the trail and thenvride the trail from end-to-end.

We meet in Wicker Park at the fountain. The route will take us on largely low traffic roads and trails.  We will ride through Riverside, Brookfield and on our way to the Centennial trail. We will take this trail to Lemont where we will stop for a pint a Polyanna Brewing. From there we will head east and ride the Cal-Sag trail in it’s entirety. At Lake Katherine we will stop at the beer garden, to sample some of Hailstorm brews. We’ll then ride the last few miles to Blue Island Beer Company where we will sample their beers. From there you can either take the Rock Island to LaSalle street station or the Metra Electric to Millenium Park. Or you can continue north to Horse Thief Hollow. From Horse Thief Hollow, you can take the Rock Island to Lasalle street station, or you can ride all the way back to Wicker Park.

Distance

Total distance is 30 miles to Polyanna Brewing, approx 50 miles to Blue Island Beer Company, 55 miles To Horse Thief Hollow, and 70 miles all the way back to Wicker Park.

Speed

This is a no-drop ride, but we will keep a 14-ish mph average riding speed. For those that want to go faster, I will have printed cue sheets available.

Hey Duppie,

Thanks for setting up this ride! It was a hell of day and an event; plus the Hailstorm tent was awesome!

Another time for sure.  But paved is good.  I'll plan on keeping my 25's on my wheels.

Yes, it is all paved, but if you are interested in riding some single track that can be accommodated too. We will be passing just to the north of Palos park, which has a good amount of off-road riding.
