Description

Hello everyone,

In response to our negated contract, we have come up with an idea. This Friday September 14, we will be doing a bike ride at noon starting at Daley Plaza. As you know we are on strike and will not settle for anything less than what our children deserve. We are asking for your help to inform others of the event we are planning on Friday to involve bikers and CTU members. The flyer has gone out to the entire critical mass mailing list so we are expecting a great turn out.

Please help us spread the word. If you can post this flyer. The route is yet to be determined but please include any ideas. We will be using the diagonal arteries such as Archer, Milwaukee, Ogden, Elston, Clybourn etc. to reach Daley Plaza and we will ride from there.

Please pass this email along. Remember to wear red!

Thank you in advance for your support.

From Micaela last Friday -

Riders-
Thank you to all who helped us put yesterday's Let's Ride for CTU together. There must have been 40 people who joined us somewhere along the ride, for most of the ride we had a consistent group of 30 riders. It was exciting to hear that people came from many organizations and schools, for example, Pulaski, Saben, Stowe, Daley, Gunsaulus, Kelly, Interamerica, Nurses for Social Justice, Community Organizers, Critical Massers, etc. I know I couldn't possibly name them all. Wow! I was so happy to see so many people supporting us. We had a great ride. We chanted in front of the CPS headquarters on Clark, we stopped at Oz Park for a rest and a picture and finally made it to Union Park. Many people honked or cheered with us as we drove by. It was a great way to see the city, and raise awareness. We came together and biked about 10 miles, this is not including of course the miles we put on just to get there from our respective locations. Some may have biked up to 50 miles that day! We are more than just hardcore bikers, we are people who want change and will push the envelop to see social justice happen NOW! What energy and dedication was felt! It would not have been possible without any of you riding by our side and getting the word out. Thank you for making this happen. It was a dream come true. Please pass this thank you on to anyone else who you know that joined us who was not on this list. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Take care, and stay strong!
Micaela & Jose
