Come join us for a November ride on the scenic Fox River Trail!
REVISED ROUTE AND START TIME!
We'll meet at Union Station to catch the 10:40 BNSF train out to Naperville. Limit of 10 bikes per train and don't forget to bring a bungee.
Our first stop will be Hopvine in Aurora. From there we'll take the Batavia spur of the IPP and the Fox River Trail to Stockholm's in Geneva. From there we'll continue further north to Geno's in Elgin where Serge has arranged for some tastings from Threesome Brewing. Then it's a short 2 miles to take the Metra home from Elgin.
We'll meet at the Ogilvie Metra Station to catch the 8:30am train out to Crystal Lake. From there we'll ride south on the Prairie Trail to .... well pretty much wherever we want!
There are several potential stops along the trail and 2 more that may be open in time:
- Village Vintner in Algonquin
- Emmett's Ale House in West Dundee
- Stockholm's Brewpub in Geneva
- Penrose Brewing in Geneva (if they're open)
We'll decide as a group what stops to make on the train ride out and as the ride rolls along.
Minimum average speed is 12 mph

Indeed ... crossing my fingers for dry weather!
Good to hear Serge! I scheduled this before tweed ride was posted so I imagine most folks will go on that ride. I'm just hoping for a beautiful crisp November day for both rides!
Hopvine in Aurora is open! It's now officially an option to end the ride there.
This'll be the first weekend after the time change so we should expect it to get dark early. We should limit ourselves to 2 stops along the way to Aurora. My votes go to Village Vintner and any of the places in Geneva.
Thanks Chris. We'll keep that one in mind.
Hope you can make it out!
I agree! Just added updated the event to include as a potential stop.
Good to know. I personally would like to make a stop at Village Vintner so hopefully the construction is a non-issue.
The trail may still be under construction around Algonquin. The last time I rode it a few months back, the bridge trusses over Algonquin Rd. were installed so I would assume the bridge is complete and ridable by now. In that case no detouring would be required, but we may have to ride over some rough, unfinished trail. That stretch of construction can be completely avoided if we go to Village Vinters. I don't think we'll have enough daylight to got to both McHenry and the Roundhouse, come November.
