Time to take advantage of the South Shore Line and slingshot to Greenbush!
Will this be a religious experience? Nope. Burning greenbushes of a different kind? No comment. But if you seek an elevated state of beer and whiskey then this is your ride!
We'll catch the 8:40 am outbound train to Dune Park. Head over to Burn 'Em Brewing for a quick stop. Then it's on to Greenbush Brewery in Sawyer for lunch and beers. From there it's an easy 7 miles to Three Oaks for a stop at Journeyman Distillery. And finally it's 23 miles to South Bend to catch the last train home at 9:16pm CST.
Itinerary:
8:40am: South Shore to Dune Park
10am - 11:30am: Ride to Burn 'Em Brewing (16.5 miles)
12:30pm - 2:30p: Ride to Greenbush (20 miles)
4pm - 5pm: Ride to Journeyman (7 miles)
6pm - 9pm: Ride to South Bend (23.5 miles)
Total ride distance is 67 miles
Minimum average speed is 12 mph. We have a train to catch and no one wants to spend the night in South Bend! If you can't ride that fast for the distance then don't show up. Or you can try to double back to Dune Park. Just don't be the person that makes the group spend the night in some crazy farmer's cornfield!
Bring:
-Water and Snacks (don't be a stupid Bundy)
-Lock
-Lights (we will be riding after dark on roads with no lights)
-Repair Kit for flats and other minor mishaps
-Common Sense
We will be riding on public roads with traffic so please consume responsibly.

And the perfect nightcap to the day was listening to the rain as I was falling asleep.
Thanks everyone! Today was one of my favorite cbes rides ever.
It was. And I'm beat.
Seconded.
Agreed.
Pleasant House is not going to open this summer. Sucks but on a positive note I figured a way to squeeze Burn 'em Brewing into the ride. So this has become the Burning Greenbush Journey!
I was just out there this weekend and checked out Dunes Hwy and the Calumet Trail. The trail was flooded in a few spots and Dunes Hwy did not seem that it would be pleasant to ride on that stretch. So I re-routed a bit to have us on that for only a mile.
C'mon now, a little dirt on the bikes makes them sexier! Either way I'll go ahead and re-route to another road.
Oh, I'm leaving the voluptuous vixen at home and bringing the macho man on this ride. I don't want to be the slow one that holds everyone up making us sleep in some crazy farmer's cornfield!
Its not fat — its full-figured.
