@Ian

Smoked Salmon? I missed that one last year. Where?

for anyone on the fence about this ride - it is a great way to see parts of Chicago you would NEVER otherwise see - I don't care if you moved here last week or in 1950. The pace is great for almost every level of rider - there are plenty of breaks.

Eat the smoked salmon

Superdawg sells sweatshirts.

Invest in chamois cream and cycling shorts (mountain bike shorts for the modest...and others).

John, Will you be taking North Ave to the lake front, like last year?
We were thinking of joining you there. Thanks.

Hey John,

Here's what I found on the house I mentioned on the other
thread.

I found these 2 tidbits on a blog. The architect is Errol Jay Kirsch. He designed the home, and had it built as his personal residence in 1979. It is one of the early solar homes. Not much information, but upon seeing the house...it kinda speaks for itself. One of the links above has pics.

The architects firm has a website, but not much info on it.

Hope this helps.

Somewhere under 100 miles. Yes. If not, there's lots of places to catch CTA or Metra back downtown. My 74-year-old dad will be riding this year on a hybrid with transit as his sag wagon in case he gets tired.

Cheers,

John

I have no idea what this is about, but checked out the "background" link and it sounds like fun. So far, our participation is a maybe as I would need some questions answered first: About how many miles is this ride? I only ask as I have a hybrid, and my friend has a single speed- our longest trip was about 45 miles straight in one day fully loaded with a week's worth of camping gear. I guess I am only worried about keeping up with the group as we haven't been on a lot of long distance or group rides-just Bike the Drive and the LATE ride so far. So my only other question is - will a hybrid and a single speed rider be able to make the entire perimeter? From what I read in the article linked above, this sounds pretty fun and interesting and we are both thinking of participating as we didn't sign up for the Boulevard thing, and so far have no plans for that weekend. Thanks.

This is one of the best biking events I've been on! Looking forward to riding for my 3rd year :)

Can't make it this year. :( Running has to come first.

We're generally heading up the northwest side of town in the early evening, so you can ride with us until two hours before your show starts and be fine for time.
