Old Plank Trail Paved Ride

This is a great paved trail that runs from Joliet to Park Forest.  We are meeting in downtown Franfort near the trail and across from the Public washrooms (clean).  The place to meet is down the street, but gives an address to search. Follow my directions after you get to I-80 and Rt 45.  

Directions to our meetup spot from I-80 and Lagrange Ave (Rt 45) are to take Rt 45 south 3.3 miles to the light at Old Frankfort Way.  Turn left and and go .2 miles to White St.  Turn Right on White St (South) and go approximately .3 miles to the downtown area.  A large parking area is on the left and local businesses are both beyond the parking lot and across the street.  You will also see the paved trail crossing the road.  We are meeting near the letter "F" on the attached link.

We will be riding the trail first to Joliet (west) and back and then to Park Forest (east) and back.  It is a great trail with lots of tree lined areas along it.  It crosses a lot of the major roads, but they are much less used down here and in some instances have bridges over them.

After the ride if we want, there is an old fashioned ice cream and candy place 3-4 storefronts from where we parked, or a Creamery Ice Cream Shop about a 1/2 mile away.  It is your patriotic duty to eat ice cream on the fourth...

We will be riding at a pace of 12-14 mph, so please make sure you can keep up or bring a copy of the map to get back home.  I'll include a link to the map below.  A helmet ans signed waiver is required by this meetup group to ride with the group.  This irde is in conjunction with the Naperville Hiking, Biking and Outdoor Enthusiasts! meetup.
