No, this isn't about making direct amends to the people we've harmed whenever doing so is possible and won't injure them or others.
It's about riding to Three Floyds and boosting our cognitive function every month this year! There's a somewhat consistent schedule -- usually the 4th Saturday of the month -- and you can qualify for the F-12 Award.
September is National Century Month, so this step is a century -- if you ride a little extra before or after. The ride takes the lakefront trail south from the Clock Tower. You can join up anywhere along the trail. Just let the group know where so they can look for you.
35 miles to Three Floyds + 10 miles to Flossmoor Station = 45 miles. Take the Metra Electric home or ride another 25 miles to Imperial Oak's Oak-toberfest = 70 miles. Ride another 5 miles to Brookfield = 75 miles and take the BNSF home or another 25 miles to Revolution's Oktoberfest, the Beer Temple, and back to the clock tower = 95 miles. 15-18 mph. I like to get to Three Floyds before they open at 11:00 (they're still one of the top 100 brewers in the world, and the food, like the beer, is unapologetically in your face with flavor, so sometimes there's a line). Bring money, government-issued ID, a lock, lights since we're staying out late, water and snacks to have en route, and panniers for beer you can't get in Chicago.
Online resources: Google map, cue sheet, Metra Electric train schedules, BNSF train schedule, Bikes on the Metra, and, to save a minute at the start, the nifty online CCC waiver.
PS: I give these rides these names because I find them humorous in an ironic way. It's not my intent to make light of addictions, efforts to recover from addictions, or 12-step peer support groups like AA. If you're trying to drink in moderation, we'll support you. If you're trying to abstain, you may want to give this ride a pass.

i had a great time thank you all for coming out!
Alina leaving clock tower hope you’re at Fullerton or even further south mm
after all that uncertainly, we might have a great day!
Saturday 09/29 0% Sunny, along with a few afternoon clouds. High 61F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. |
and @ Oktoberfest i wonder if i'll have room for:
the one @ flossmoor station i feel most drawn to is:
they always have new and crazy creations at Oak-toberfest like, this year:
3f will have a bunch of my favorites on tap:
Double dry hopped lactose IPA. A FULL bodied massively dry hopped and appropriately bitter IPA brewed and inspired by the thiccest of the Thicc Bois. Dry hopped with 100% experimental hops from the Yakima Valley.
The new combination of American hops in this enigmatic IPA is an instant classic. The very fruity and may we say juicy hop character in this IPA is unrelentingly delicious.
An Imperial Brett IPA with cherry juice and cherry flavor. Aroma is reminiscent of candied cherries, dried fruit and a little funk. Taste is sweet and tart at first with a bitter kick that lingers on the palate.
An interplanetary IPA
This delicious Milk Stout is brewed with a portion of golden naked oats and lactose milk sugar to give it a rounded and full-bodied mouth feel, deep-roasted and slightly sweet maltiness.
Alpha King's festive cousin. A big American Xmas Porter brewed with English chocolate malt, Mexican sugar and, of course, tons of strange American hops.
This intensely hopped and gushing undead Pale Ale will be one's only respite after the zombie apocalypse. Created with our marvelous friends in the comic industry.
A bold yet balanced American Pale Ale with slight caramel sweetness and aggressive citrus hoppiness. This is our flagship beer.
brad, i estimate 8:32.
steve, no plan, i don't know where or even if it'll be torn up this weekend. last weekend the torn-up trail was rideable (and more so than the "off-road option" by 3f). or we can check google maps for roads.
Clock Tower at 8 for me then. Is there a plan for by-passing the trail in Hyde Park?
I would let to join you at Buckingham fountain. What time do you think you'll be rolling by there?
the few showers (32%) now not due until 10 pm :-)
