Description

Come one, come all to the Chicago Cycling Club's annual New Year's Day ride. Neither snow, sleet, ice nor hangovers will prevent an intrepid group of cyclists from riding on the first day of the year 2013. Come embark on a 10-12 mile cycling odyssey  that traditionally includes the obligatory breakfast/brunch stop at a restaurant in a great Chicago neighborhood.

New this year - the ride will start in West Town at the **Eckhart Park field house** (which will not be open). We will return to this area for those that want to. On Chicago or Noble or Elizabeth, there is ample free parking for those who drive. This is also a few blocks from the Chicago & Milwaukee Blue Line stop and is also a stop for the Chicago 66 bus. Easy to get to!

Snuggle up in your winter riding gear and come on out.

Whichever restaurant, I predict we will need things like Irish Coffee and Hot Toddies!

Sounds brrrisk!  If the forecast is correct, I predict a shorter ride with more time at the restaurant.

If the NW wind part is right, at least I'll have a tailwind on my way back to the Metra station.

Weather forecast is looking like high in the teens with northwest winds.  Finally I can try out a few more layers and see if what I have cooked up for my hands will work!

Casual pace. If you're slow and steady, you'll do just fine.

What kind of riding pace? I'm slow and steady. Mainly slow and somewhat steady, I suppose.
