Description

As many of you don't know, I am an amateur Muay Thai/ MMA fighter. I am not sure how many Chainlinkers are into MMA(mixed martial arts), but It was suggested that I made an event and maybe a ride to Villa Park will happen out of it. I just found out that Saturday, September 4th will be for adult competitors. I am unclear what time my matches will start, but there are usually some Pro fighters( from the UFC, WEC, StrikeForce, KOTC, XFO) attending if you want photos, autographs, etc.

Last NAGA event had a turnout of over 1000 competitors and 2000 spectators. I was injured last time(MCL tear), but I plan on taking home the gold this time.

Comment by Fred Noinaj on September 4, 2010 at 9:33am: I would like to thank Kevin, John, and Gabe for making it out to support me this morning. I won bronze/3rd in 170-179.9lbs division. Won first round by rear naked choke, second round stalled out and I ended up losing by one point through decision in overtime, and was able to snag third place with a top-mounted triangle.

For those going out to Villa Park, I recommend a stop at Lunar Brewing Co., a bar that brews its own beer, and/or Tong's Tiki Hut, a restaurant serving Chinese food with Polynesian decor.

Comment by Kevin C Dormant on July 30, 2010 at 12:51am: My fandom comes in waves. Got hooked last year when Versus was broadcasting MMA immediately following the Blackhawk's playoff games. I usually get to golden gloves finals every year, I'd love to see MMA live.
