Join us for a near-west suburban safari!
Depart from Palmer Square Park; stop for a pint at a home brewer’s apartment in Garfield Park; dinner at the famous Depot American Diner, 5840 W. Roosevelt; head to Berwyn’s Friendly Tap, 6633 W. Roosevelt, where my folk rock band Ordinary People performs with the Last Kind Words; ride back to the city together at the end of the night or catch the nearby Blue Line.
If anyone is interested in leaving from Daley Plaza at 5:30 pm to Logan Square for the start of the ride, let me know and I'll be happy to ride with you.
More about the concert:
The Last Kind Words opens the evening at 9 pm; Ordinary People performs around 10 pm.
The Last Kind Words are a guitar/mandolin duo from Chicago. Geoff Farina plays guitar and sings. Kenneth P.W. Rainey plays mandolin and sings. Visit: http://thelastkindwords.com/
Ordinary People is Sarah Saweikis, Kevin Monahan, John Greenfield, Angie Maloney, Jan Weinstein and they play Country, Bluegrass, Blues and Other Music for Uplifting Gormandizers (to quote the old CBGB OMFUG slogan) on guitars, banjo, bass and mandolin. Think classics by Cash, the Band, CCR and Fats Domino plus original tunes about trusty trucks, Illinois poet Carl Sandburg, amorous bluegills and Civil War generals: http://tinyurl.com/OrdinaryPeopleChicago
