Description

Come join the BBC as we celebrate the power of the laboring classes on May Day!

We will start the day at "Red" Square Bar and Grill in Avondale, across the street from Kuma's, and will venture to many different areas of the city such as leftist landmarks, parks and other watering holes.

The route map will be posted soon and will include a picnic stop so be sure to bring some grub for your panniers!

See you all then!

ATTENTION ALL PARTICIPANTS! ATTENTION ALL PARTICIPANTS!

For those participating in the Tweed Ride this Saturday, if you wish to attend the Roller Derby match at the conclusion, please post a note indicating so HERE ON THE RIDE PAGE. We are able to purchase steeply discounted tickets ($13 instead of $20) as a group and have a section reserved for us, but we must make the purchase by 5pm tomorrow. There is already as growing list of names and we don't want anyone to be left out (or pay more than they have to).

I suppose it was a bit far to ride our to the Forest Home Cemetery to visit the Haymarket Martyrs Monument? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haymarket_affair

Dash from bar to bar between rain showers and storms?
Or drink so much you no longer care!

Yoinks! Weather.com is predicting rain :( so we'll need those stiff upper lips as well as some extra equipment...

Scattered thunderstorms. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s.

We will have to save Lucy Parsons for next year because this year we are starting on the west side and ending at Roller Derby!

Only two bar stops this ride at our start "Red" Square Bar where we have been promised drink specials! and Simone's, the pride of Pilsen. We will be stopping in between the two bars at the South Loop Whole Foods/Jewel Osco for lunch/picnic provisions as we ride to Buckingham Fountain and a group photo and picnic. After that we will ride south through Bridgeport and past the Haymarket Police Monument at the CPD HQ.

After Simone's those who want to can join us at the roller derby at UIC Pavilion. I will be conducting a group buy of tickets. When we purchase this way we get a section of seats reserved for us, just imagine how swell we will look all together in our tweed!, and also $7 off the regular admission price. Send me a PM if you want a ticket and just pay me at the venue.

Chaps & Chapettes,

The photos are out for London's 2nd Annual Tweed Run! Do visit and be inspired by both the attire and noble steeds!
