Description

** NOTE - The rain is light this morning, so we will be riding. There are picnic shelters at Dan Ryan Woods, so if it's raining but looks likely to lighten up soon, there IS a place to take shelter and wait it out. Bring your raingear and come on down! **

Cruise the Major Taylor Trail on a beautiful September day. There are 2 ride options. Both will start at 8:30 a.m.

A 15-20 mile slow to moderate paced ride will follow the Major Taylor south to Whistler Woods, head west to downtown Blue Island, then return to the start location.

A longer ride (50-55 miles at 12-15 mph) led by the Major Taylor Cycling Club will start from Blackstone Bicycle Works at 7:30 to meet up with the other riders at Dan Ryan Woods. They will ride the trail south to Whistler Woods, then continue south to Major Taylor's grave site in Glenwood, and return north via Wolf Lake, Burnham Greenway and the lakefront to Blackstone Bicycle Works, with an option to leave the MTC3 group in South Chicago and return to Dan Ryan Woods.

Dan Ryan Woods, Whistler Woods and sections of the route in between are among the most beautiful places in the city to ride. Come and discover them for yourself.

Event is hosted by Friends of the Major Taylor Trail, Major Taylor Cycling Club and Chicago Cycling Club.
