Leslie Phemister of the Active Transportation Alliance will be the featured speaker at Folks on Spokes next monthly meeting, August 23, 7:30 p.m. at the Flossmoor Village Hall. Leslie started as Active Trans' Southland Safe Routes to School Coordinator in 2007 and now serves as the organization's Suburban Outreach Manager. She'll talk broadly about the ActiveTrans' role as a bicycle, pedestrian and transit advocacy organization, and what it's been up to in the greater Chicago's suburbs.
Leslie has a degree in Fitness and Exercise and is working toward her AICP (American Institution for Certified Planners) certification. She grew up across the south suburbs, living in communities from Riverdale to Manteno. Leslie now resides in Homewood with her 13 year old son, her dog Cheddar, and cat Fletcher.
