Description

Join Kathy and Suzy Schnauzer on one or more parts of a three day event to celebrate Kathy's 75th Birthday.  Each day's ride is only 25 miles.

The first one will start by going South on Halsted St. passing the edge of the University of Illinois/Chicago.  Halsted is relatively smooth compared to many other Chicago streets.  We'll visit the vertical farm The Plant  We'll stop at the Chicago Fire Station on 35th street and hope a friendly fire fighter will show us the equipment.  Maybe we can get a photo with the vehicle.

After the Fire Station, we pass through Illinois Institute of Technology, The Illinois College of Optometry and see the statue of the legendary Bud Billiken on MLK Drive.  Just past Bud we'll definitely find the Farmer's Market known as OTIS Fresh Market (Organic Things in Season) and the Urban Farm which grows them.  We'll take our bikes right through McCormick Place, coming out on to the Lakefront Path at Soldier Field.  We'll leave the path at Roosevelt road and encounter a bike path on the sidewalk outside Trader Joe's then on to the two way bicycle path on Dearborn St.  We'll find a place to stop for lunch somewhere in the Loop and then finish up on the Clybourn St separated path passing Yojimbo's Garage and another Trader Joe's.  If you come at 9:30AM enjoy Coffee and Bagels in the back yard.  We start our ride at 10:00AM. Please wear your helmet or borrow one of ours.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The ride described above will be switched to Sunday, Oct 9th because the one described there would conflict with the Chicago Marathon Course.
