Hello fellow happy campers. This is an amazing turnout for our first ride. Glad all of you decided to join us.

Being such a large group, it does come with a few challenges, particularly with reserving the sites, especially if we are trying to be together. Now, there are reservable sites available, but we need to jump on that ASAP...like...now ASAP.

Rules being as they are, only one person can reserve a site. I need some volunteers who will step up and reserve a site with with me, looking to reserve probably 7-9 sites if everyone who is thus far RSVP'd truely coming. (it sounds like they will allow 5 ppl per site)

Each reservable site is $30 ($5 res fee, $25 for site). We can collect the costs from other campers at the site, or ahead of the ride. A FORM must be filled out and mailed in with check or money order.

So, who will volunteer...

I visited up here this weekend and stayed in the Conference Center/resort. The ride wasn't bad. It's less than 50 miles from downtown Chicago. The crushed limestone portion is only about 8 miles at the very end of the path. The trails are pretty easy to follow.

Biking the last half mile to the park on Sheridan isn't great. The shoulder of the road was completely gone, but the cars went around us.

There is a piggly wiggly and kmart less than half a mile north from the park's turnout. They even had some vegetarian options at the pidggly wiggly.

Breakfast at the resorts restaurant was extremely reasonable if anyone decides to go for that.

It's a beautiful ride and I'm looking forward to going again!

Tyler, yes, all costs will be figured once we have a confirmation from everyone, and we know how many sites to get. Cost of actual camping site will be $7 or so per person. We will work out the food deal later on too.

My low-down:
I have a tent that can snugly fit 2 people if anyone is in need.
I have a tarp that will fit under said tent (probably measures 6'x4', give or take).
I have portable propane canisters and a single burner + pots/pans.
And I'll probably end up packing a pint of whiskey.

Where does it leave from and how much will it cost? Is this info going to be added shortly after R.S.V.P. close?
