Description

PLEASE NOTE - NEW DATE - Saturday is scheduled for hot hot heat, soupy drenching humidity, but most importantly, storms and clouds. This does NOT make for good photo ride weather, so the event will be on SUNDAY JULY 25 (1 day later) instead. Hopefully this works for those that were thinking about it on Saturday, and gives the pierogi riders an opportunity to come on Sunday should they wish.

I will be at Washington Park fieldhouse on Sunday July 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM for those wishing to ride.

This is a photo-snapping ride of the Hyde Park tour. It will feature the same route, and all of the stops, plus others. Sometime ago, I had a fatal hard-drive crash sometime ago that wiped out a number of photos I had taken for research on the second season’s rides. While some of the shots are lost forever, I am most pressed with getting shots of all of the documented stops on all of the rides, so these rides follow the tours exactly and stop for photos. I have my notes with me so people can see information on what we are looking at and the history of the area and I usually talk more off the cuff. I am definitely not nose in the notes on these rides, but the info is with me if you want to look and hear.

Photo Rides are 3 to 5 hours in length. Unlike our normal tours, we will bail on rainy days if the weather does not cooperate for photos and do that community on a future date.

Hey Julie,

Don't you have the Bike Winter changing of the guard at 3 at your place? I think you will find it pretty hard to get back up to Ravenswod from Hyde Park in that time. Not that we wouldn't want you, just saying.....

Sorry if the date change messes up anyone's plans. The rides don't accomplish their main purpose if I don't have a good day for pics.

Hope to see some of you on Sunday though - Cheers - Lee Diamond

Lee, I'm going to see how my day goes, but this sounds like fun. If I think I can make it I will call you earlier and get a rough idea of where you will be.

Folks, it is looking quite likely to be a rainy day, which would mean a rainy-day reschedule, which I would probably do just the following day, namely Sunday. Hopefully it changes some folks options for the better and doesn't deter any that can only do Saturday, but if it should rain, then Saturday is out no matter what.

Stay tuned for weather updates. My favorite un-science.

In all the goodbyes to your tours, no one mentioned your amazing photos, which I've always enjoyed here. If you took a collection of your pix to publisher, you could propose a book. Who knows - the royalties could maybe support you?

Dang it! I'll be riding to Indiana that day. What rotten luck.
