Description

On this guided, docent-led tour, we will trace some of the historical aspects of the bestselling book "Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. The ride will start downtown, go south on the Lake Front Path and explore the former site of the World's Columbian Exposition, ending up on the Midway. We'll look at some buildings designed by Daniel Burnham (the great architect, father of urban planning and author of the 1909 Chicago Plan) and compare him with Henry Howard Holmes (the diabolical serial killer who preyed on people during the World's Fair). It is not necessary to have read the book before taking this tour, but it would help. A good time will be had by all, expecially those who love Chicago history. We'll ride about 25 miles at a good pace (15-18 mph), starting downtown and going south on the Lakefront Path. Contact Greg to RSVP and get the starting location.

Hi Lisa,  Most people have no trouble keeping up. We make 7 or 8 stops , which gives everyone a chance to catchup. Cheers, Greg

Sounds like a really great tour, Greg, but way too fast for me! :-(
