Meet up someplace in Chicago, ride and ride and ride. Get some supper in Milwaukee. Meet up with their Critical Mass and make friends who'll let us crash over. Meet up in the morning and eat something, ride and ride and ride all the way home!
Unless we get a huge group interested, it might be best to take Metra to Kenosha on Friday to make sure we get to Milwaukee in time and with enough energy for Critical Mass. We can ride the whole way back to Chicago on Saturday, though, so we're sure to make it over 100 miles for the trip.
This is a ride for those who've ridden through at least a couple of winters already and know how to keep feet and hands warm. This is an unsupported ride, so we'll need to be responsible for keeping each other alive and riding. Cliff Bars and cookies are absolutely essential. It's not a race, but we'll have to keep moving at a reasonably brisk pace to keep from freezing.
Please weigh in here on ideas for a route. Does anyone have friends in Milwaukee that ride Critical Mass? Please reach out to them and let them know we're coming and can we crash on their floor?

How about Rico and I meet you on the Metra at the Clybourn stop at 8:43am? Anyone else live closer to Clybourn? Looking at the weather forecast, I'm going to have to change up my city tires for snow tires! I hope the trails will be rideable. If not, I'm sure the county roads will be fine.
Cannot get out of work, have a good time.
I am ok either way, I will probably ride downtown with Adam.
Ok, 10:30 train from downtown gets to Waukeegan at noon. That sounds like a do-able ride to make it to Milwaukee in time for Critical Mass. Alternately, the train that leaves downtown at 8:30 gives us an extra two hours to stop and eat and whatnot. Thoughts?
Perfect--I'll check the schedule tonight. Have to dash to The Recyclery for a tune up, make sure my pony's sound for the trip!
Metra goes to Waukegan, roughly the halfway mark, several times a day.
and then some! How early should we leave to make it there by 5 pm?
Yes! Full century it is!
ok, the Metra kinda won't help us--we either leave at dawn, or we get there too late to catch Critical Mass. Sounds like we ride from Chicago, might as well make it Daley Plaza, eh? Shall we say 10am to avoid rush hour?
