Friends of the Major Taylor Trail and the Openlands TreeKeepers program welcome community volunteers for a tree planting along the trail north of 127th St. (approx. 500 W. 127th) on Saturday 11/16 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
All able bodied volunteers are welcome. Tree planting experience is not required.
Tools will be provided. If you have work gloves, bring them. Some gloves will be available. Hiking boots or work boots are recommended, otherwise supportive closed toe shoes will do. We will be planting, mulching and watering young trees to improve the environment along the trail.

Thanks to everyone who came out to help today. We planted 47 trees of 13 different species: bur oak, red oak, Chinkapin oak, Hill's oak, catalpa, black walnut, black cherry, hackberry, ironwood, Kentucky coffee tree, magnolia, hickory and hornbeam.
We had help from TreeKeepers, Greencorps, Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago, several folks from Riverdale and several who live in West Pullman near the trail.
I apologize - I am ill today and cannot attend. :(
Yes, there will be a lot more than two. If anyone else reading here is planning to join us, please respond here. Should be a good day.
There will be more than the 2 of us, right? :)
